# Understanding the Ministry of Home Affairs: Roles, Responsibilities, and Internship Opportunities
The Ministry of Home Affairs (Kemendagri) stands as a cornerstone of the Indonesian government, serving as the primary authority for domestic administrative affairs. Reporting directly to the President, this ministry is tasked with the formulation, coordination, and oversight of critical governance policies. Its expansive scope includes managing regional autonomy, political affairs, population data, and territorial administration.
Beyond its daily operations, the Ministry holds a unique constitutional significance. In the event that both the President and Vice President are unable to fulfill their duties, the Ministry of Home Affairs, alongside the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Defense, assumes a collaborative leadership role to ensure the continuity of the state.
